London Mayor Sadiq Khan has secured a lifelong seat as a member of the House of Lords. The UK Prime Minister announced the decision on July 16, 2026. It is part of a batch of 26 new Lords named that day. He exits his elected mayor role for an appointed one in Parliament’s upper chamber . The others named will also join legislative work in the Lords under the same list.
