Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has temporarily stopped taking new applications for parents and grandparents sponsorship. Families can not file any new forms to bring elderly relatives to Canada. The government provided no update on when or if the freeze will lift. Recent updates to immigration rules came shortly prior to the shutdown. Newly released data on work permit delays was published. Yet, no plan to address the current delays was announced.
