The San Diego Padres brought back pitcher Walker Buehler off the paternity list ahead of NLDS Game 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers, bringing him onto their active roster. His return takes up a roster slot created by a separate paternity list move.

Closer Mason Miller was added to the paternity list before the game, leaving San Diego without its top bullpen arm in an elimination matchup. Buehler slots into a Padres bullpen that now has to operate without Miller, who had been their main late-inning arm heading into the series.
