Phil Regan has died on Thursday. He was 89. Regan played for a decade in the majors. He represented the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs. In 1969 he became an All-Star. Fans recall him for his fast throws and consistent delivery.
After retiring, he took up the role of a pitching coach. He began in the Dodgers' minor league teams. He worked with young players early in their careers. Later he coached with several Major League clubs. In the 2010s he took a job with the New York Mets as pitching coach. Teammates said he stayed calm and provided good advice. Young pitchers learned a lot from him. Both New York and Los Angeles remember him still.
