Pereira sustained a heavy knockdown early on but he stood up, pressed forward and landed a few clean shots.
He kept the pressure on despite the damage.
When the final bell rang the judges were split.
They gave the win to Magomedov, who braved the early onslaught and claimed the victory on the scorecards.
