Intense shaking spread fast. Tsunami warnings went up at once. Mexico and Guatemala faced alerts for high waves. Coastal residents moved quickly to elevated ground. Aftershocks persisted, some strong. The biggest aftershock reached 5.0. No big damage or injuries were reported yet. Homes and streets were quiet in Chiapas and nearby areas.
