The Minnesota Lynx defeated the Golden State Valkyries twice in late August. Minnesota won 77-66 on Aug. 19. The teams clashed again Aug. 24 at Target Center. Minnesota maintained the top seed. They had not lost to Golden State yet. Courtney Williams missed the game. Her right foot was hurt. Without Williams on the floor, Minnesota could not get the top seed in the matchup.
