Hurricane Simon has intensified into Category 4 as it bears down on Mexico's Pacific coast, posing the greatest direct threat of three storms active at the same time. Tropical Storm Rachel is also heading for Mexico, adding pressure on authorities handling both storms at once.

Separately, Hurricane Isaias has hit the Gulf region of the United States. The unusual combination of three named storms puts both the Mexican Pacific coast and parts of the US Gulf under active weather emergencies. Emergency services on both sides of the border are urging residents to take precautions, while forecasters are closely watching the movement of all three systems. The situation remains highly fluid, with conditions expected to deteriorate further in coming hours.
