An backyard astronomer using Google Maps came across a big rounded depression in northern Quebec. Staff at Quebec’s geological survey confirmed it is a massive meteorite impact crater formed around 390 million years near Lake Mistassini. The scar on the landscape closely matches other confirmed craters and indicates a major ancient collision. Satellite images were compared in detail field data to substantiate the discovery.
