On July 6, Canada’s federal public servants started working in offices five days per week. The mandate began without a clear plan for how to make it happen. Unions said offices lack sufficient space and equipment for everyone to return. They also said the administration gave no proof that working in offices extra days makes things more effective for the public.
The federal government argued the changes will assist small businesses get increased government contracts. Federal employees and news reporters still ask if offices are set for so many people.
