An Australian Federal Police detective in Canberra has been jailed after giving false testimony on evidence in court.

The long-serving investigator spent decades locking up offenders behind bars. He was responsible for what judges called a ruinous lie and a devastating mistake after fabricating details regarding court evidence.

Today the Canberra detective is serving time in prison with the offenders he once targeted. The Australian Federal Police officer was sentenced to prison after spending decades working on criminal cases and putting them behind bars before his own conviction for committing perjury.
