Members of Parliament have recommended overhauling the BBC's licence fee. They suggest lowering costs and expanding funding to cover areas outside of television. MPs also suggest scrapping the BBC's charter process and preventing the broadcaster from outbidding commercial rivals for overseas shows. The proposals aim to resolve the BBC's financial challenges as it faces a important juncture. The recommendations come amid persistent talks about the broadcaster's long-term strategy.
